... but it gets easier from there on!

6 mei 2018 - Krokkleiva, Noorwegen

The rock carvings in Tanum are really nice, as is the museum. To get there, we took the bikes: Gwyn on an extra seat on Inge's bike, Ilan on his own bike as a trailer behind mine. Both of them enjoyed the ride, and we, as parents, are very happy to have electrical bikes!

In the afternoon, we made a great walk on Kungsklyftan in Fjällbacka. Ilan felt like a real rock crawler and had tons of motivation to finish the climb and the walk on top of the rock, with great views! Gwyn got carried on Gijs' back, giving her a birds eye view to spot the blue markings on the rocks!

After one more night at Han and Inez' place, we drove into Norway, the first time for all of us! We made a lunch stop in Fredrikstad, visited the fort and the very beautiful old town, where also a nice and impressive model rail road museum got visited. While lunching, our car and caravan got nearly blocked by a bus driver, who apparently didn't appreciate us standing there...

Before we got to our camp site, we noticed a lot of motorbikes along the road, blocked off roads and a car with 'Tour of Norway' on it. Because Gijs assumed the tour would pass us on the highway, he stopped the car on a parking place to watch the riders pass. He even ringed his father, hoping he was following the cycling competition live. After 20 minutes, cars started passing again, but we hadn't seen any cyclist... Apparently, they had taken a side road at some point... :-p

When we arrived at Utvika campsite, north of Oslo, we got met by a lot of 'locals' (owning season places on the campsite), but no fellow caravaners. One of them was kind enough to point us to the reception, which was unfortunately closed at that moment. After driving backwards a couple of hundred meters, we decided to just pick a spot and park our caravan. Luckily, we met the owner about an hour later and got an okay to use that spot. For the first time, we went all in: caravan, tent, dog enclosure. We will after all spend a luxurious 3 nights here!

Today we visited Oslo, the maritim museum, built a boat there, visited a monument dedicated to the volunteers who helped the victims of the Utoya shooting and watched Utoya from the side of the lake.

Right now, the wind is blowing like hell, so let's see if the tent survives the night...
